Carson Valley
Conservation District and Upper Carson River Coordinated Resource
Management Plan (Upper Carson River CRMP)
The Upper
Carson River CRMP operates as a branch of the Carson Valley Conservation
District and has responsibility for the Carson River extending from
the Sierra Crest east to Mexican Dam in Carson City. In 1996, a
Coordinated Resource Management Plan was published for this reach
of the Carson River. A vision statement for the group was crafted
to "guide" watershed efforts into the next century and
reads as follows:
"In thirty
years we would like the upper Carson River Watershed area to be:
a productive, healthy, and diverse agricultural, urban, pasture,
forest, range and river system. The system will provide abundant
products, clean water, healthy living conditions, wildlife, recreation
and planned urbanization that encourages the safe natural capture,
storage, release and use of the water in the watershed."
The Upper Carson
River CRMP was the first group of its kind to be formed on the Carson
River. The group's purpose is to complete projects along the river
which help stabilize the river channel and improve the integrity
of the river system.
The Upper Carson
River CRMP meets regularly to discuss issues and plan projects for
the river corridor. For more information, please contact Paul Pugsley,
UCRMP Coordinator at (775) 782-3661.
