Dayton Valley
Conservation District (DVCD) And Middle Coordinated Resource Management
Plan Group (MCRMP)
The Middle
Carson River CRMP was founded in 1994 by Dayton Valley landowners
along the Carson River whose concerns focused on the need to address
a variety of river-related issues including streambank erosion rates,
loss of land, vegetation management, maintenance, water quality,
and permit issuing.
In 1996, the
Middle Carson River CRMP received its first funding from federal
and state agencies, which allowed this locally-led effort to set
the framework for accomplishing work on the ground.
Over the past
four years the Middle Carson River CRMP has made tremendous strides
in carrying out its vision and striving to meet its goals. On March
16, 1999, the Middle Carson River CRMP became the Dayton Valley
Conservation District; the newest addition to the state conservation
district program in twenty-six years. This District will continue
to recognize the founding efforts of the Middle Carson River CRMP
by continuing to carry out its plan to conduct river restoration
projects in the Dayton Valley area.
