The Carson River Watershed has been modified as development has occurred. The river has been moved, channelized and diverted several times throughout the system. Many groups in the watershed are planning and implementing river restoration projects to benefit water quality, water supply, habitat, recreation and more. The Alpine Watershed Group has several volunteer opportunities. Markleeville Creek Day occurs annually in September, and the Alpine Aspen Festival happens in October every year. CWSD coordinates, plans and funds river projects that are implemented by various watershed groups and conservation districts. The tables below provide information on river rehabilitation projects that are currently in progress and those that have been completed since 2007.
